About Course

Know how learning is checked, measured and reported before Day One. This JOY Pathway 1 course shows internationally trained and early-career educators how U.S. teachers gather evidence of learning, check for understanding in every lesson, build fair assessments for every learner, and turn evidence into grades that families can trust. Through real classroom scenarios (a class that nods but is lost, a student with an IEP, a newly arrived English learner, a late project that shows full mastery, and a family that questions a grade) you will practice fair, evidence-based decisions. You leave with your own assessment tracker, a grading and reporting comparison, a family communication plan, and your first-week commitments. About 2 hours: video lesson, fillable workbook, research reading with an Apply It worksheet for your own school, a 10-question knowledge check, and a JOY certificate of completion.
